The community housing program provides subsidized rental housing to moderate to low income families. 

Community Housing

The Newell Housing Foundation manages the community housing program in Brooks on behalf of the Government of Alberta. 

Based on eligibility, the Community Housing Program provides subsidized rental housing for low-income families who cannot afford private sector accommodation. There are 41 community houses located in 4 areas in Brooks ranging in size from 2-4 bedrooms. 

There is a continuous waitlist for this program.

Eligibility 

Tenant selection are the responsibility of management bodies. Applicants are given priority based on need, as determined by income, assets, and current housing condition. Applicant’s income must fall below provincially set income levels. 

Rents are based on 30 percent of a household’s adjusted income and include the gas, sewer, water, and waste removal. The tenant is responsible for electricity, telephone and cable television, as well as any additional services they may request (i.e. parking).
